Malaysia dominated the athletics competitions of the 6th ASEAN Schools Games by tallying 15-9-6 gold-silver-bronze deal haul in the 4 day track meet.
Thailand came in second with a 7-8-10.
Vietnam came in third with a 7-3-1 tally.
Host Philippines placed 4th with a 2-9-10 medal tally in its best ever performance in the annual games.
Malaysia won the gold in the boys 100m and 200m sprints (Badrul Hisyam Bin Abdul Manap), 4x100m and 4x400m relays, 400m hurdles (Quek Lee Yong), triple jump (Nik Fariezal Erman Bin Nik Ab Hadi), high jump (Norshafiee Bin Mohd Shah) and discuss throw (Faris Hazim Bin Jamaluddin). The Malaysian girls ruled the 400m dash (Siti nur Afiqah Binti Abdul Razak), 4x400m relay, 100m hurdles (Nur Syafiqah Anis Binti Abu Bakar), 800m run (Faradilah Raznie), long jump and triple jump (Noor Shaidatun Nadia Binti Mohammad), and discuss throw (Queenie Ting Kun Ni).
Thailand won the boys 400m (Vitsanu Phosri), 110m hurdles (Parinya Munaek) and long jump. The Thai girls ruled the 400m hurdles (Supaporn Somsri), 4x100m relay, Javelin (Jariya Wichaidit) and Shotput (Areera Intadis).
Vietnam swept the distance events in the boys 5,000m (Nguyen Van Miyen) 1,500m, and 3,000m steeplechase (Le Quang Hoa) . While the Vietnam girls won the 1,500m (Dinh Thi Bich) and 3,000m (Lo Thi Thanh) as well as the 100m and 200m sprints (Ha Thi Thu) .
