There were no surprises again that happened on Day 4 of the PNG athletics competition.
Hammer Throw specialist Arniel Ferrera (PAF Hypersports) ruled the Discuss Throw with a heave of 41.88m, just 0.38m ahead of his teammate Nixon Mas.
Felyn Dolloso easily won the girls triple jump by leaping 12.55m, 0.20m better than her Palarong Pambansa record set two years ago. Hypersports teammate Michelle Loterte settled for second with a 11.78m performance.
The mens 4x400m relay was ruled by Laguna team (Bano, Alejan, Guarte and Bagsit) with a time of 3:13.83. Run for change team (Cid, Bardos, Ebcas and Del Prado Jr.) settled for silver with a time of 3:16.50, while PAF Hypersports (Billiones, Herida, Macanilao and Nierras) placed third at 3:17.60.
The women’s 5000m run went wire to wire with Flordeliza Donos of Baguio City edging Mary Grace Delos Santos of Cebu City by 0.01 of a second with a 17:44.84 timing.
The men’s 3,000 steeplechase was expectedly ruled by Rene Herrera with a relaxed time of 9:05.84.
2011 SEA Games silver medalist Narcisa Atienza ruled all 7 events of the Heptathlon, enroute to 5,208 pts and the gold medal.
