Far Easter University (FEU) won their 9th straight Women’s UAAP Track & Field championship and their 2nd straight Men’s UAAP Track and Field Title (both 20th overall) at the close of UAAP Season 74.
University of the Philippines (UP), on the other hand, won their 3rd straight Junior Title.
FEU Lady Tamaraws racked up 293 pts, 60 more than 1st runner-up UST and 121 pts more than 2nd runner-up UE.
Over in the Men’s side, FEU accumulated 188 pts over the 4 day event, only 28 pts more than 1st runner-up UST, and 44 pts more than 2nd runner-up DLSU.
UP Juniors ran away from the field with 238 pts, 53 pts more than 1st runner-up ADMU and 71 pts more than 2nd runner-up UST.
Looking at the medal standing, FEU racked up 11-6-9 gold-silver-bronze medal tally in the Women’s category, UST came up with 5-12-4 and UE did 5-3-6.
Dalyn Carmen and Josie Malacad accounted for the 6 golds of the Lady Tamaraws as the former won the 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m and 3,000m steeple chase and the latter, the 800m and 400m low hurdles.
UE unraveled their rookie, 2011 Palarong Pambansa sensation, Jenny Rose Rosales, who won 3 golds over 100m, 200m and 400m.
UST Tigress Luville Dato-on brought home 3 golds (Long Jump, 4x100m and 4x400m) and 2 silvers in the 100m and 20om.
The FEU Mens team racked up 8-5-3 medal tally. Followed by DLSU with 6-5-4, then by ADMU with 4-3-4 and by UST with 4-2-4 medal tally.
FEU’s long distance specialist Christopher Ulboc became the most bemedalled athlete of the team with his 3 gold romp in the 3,000m steeplechase, 5000m and 10,000m runs.
DLSU’s MVP is clearly Patrick Ma. Unso with his golds over 110m HH (new record), 200m and 400m LH.
Carlos Xavier Soriano of ADMU won the gold in the 100m, silver in the 200m and bronze when he anchored the 4x400m team.
UST’s 4 golds were courtesy of two athletes: Jordan Paul Billiones over the 800m and 1500m and Edgar Bardel over the 5,000m and 10,000m walks.
UP Juniors accumulated 8-8-3 medal tally. Followed by UE with 6-3-4, then by UST with 3-5-8 tally.
UP swept the sprint events, relays and hurdle events. Jaime Immanuel Bautista accounted for the 3 individual golds of UP over the 200m, 110m HH and 400m LH.
UE’s Daveson Kyle Narido anihillated the field in all individual events he entered in: 800m, 1500m (new record), 2000m steeplechase (new record), 3000m and 5000m runs (new record).
Garry Santiago Jr accounted for the 2 golds of the UST junior team with his golds in the Discus Throw and Shotput (new record)
