PSC bares year-round sports calendar for 2012
It will be Dumaguete City’s turn to host the the 2012 PNG from May 26 to June 3 and according to City Mayor Chiquiting Sagarbarria, ” our city was hit by a major natural disaster last year but hosting the PNG will show the resiliency of the local people in getting back to normal and we are happy that Dumaguete has been given this chance.”
UAAP Last Review 400m Hurdles
Possibly an event waiting for a record to be broken is the Mens 400m Hurdles. The showdown will be between National Junior Decathlon Record Holder Jesson Ramil Cid of FEU and Patrick Unso (the national & junior national record holder in the 110m Hurdles). Cid and Unso have ran against each other before with wins going either way. Up for grabs will be the UAAP Record of Jun Rey Bano at 53.0. Cid getting desperatley close to that last year with a win in 53.1, Unso pb sits further back at 54.18 and even though probably not in contention for record would be relying on Cid to have a less than inform day to claim the title away.
In the Womens 400m Hurdles Josie Malacad of FEU who came very close but just missed out on the Junior record last year when she ran 1.02.69 will defend her title against UST’s Keizel Pedrina who has a best time of 1.03.1
*I have opted not to do a write up on the walks at the UAAP as i have no knowledge in this event.
*I have been informed the UAAP will be using electronic timing (the last time electronic timing was used was 2010, the meet in 2011 was hand-timed)
Malaysia Drug Testing
As requested before there has been no update on the testing status of the Malaysian 4x400m runner who tested positive in a first doping test, the result of the second doping test is not yet known. I would advise we do not jump to conclusions until the results of the 2nd test have been released. The Malaysian 4×400 won the gold at the sea games with the Philippines silver in 4×400. Malaysian newspapers state that if the runner is found guilty got the gold will likely go to the Philippines 4×4.
