Philippine Inter-Collegiate Athletics Meet (PICAM)


As preparation for the UAAP and NCAA a special time trial was organised for Collegiate athletes at Pasig on December 18 and 19.

The highlight of the meet was Alexandra Morrica Smith,18 of De La Salle University (DLSU) setting a Junior Record in the Womens Pole Vault at 2.76m (see previous article)

Other standouts included Palaro Co-Record Holder Daniel Noval, 17 originally from Cebu but now running for College of Saint Benilde (CSB) who is coached by National 100/200m Record Holder Ralph Soguilon. Noval won the 60m in a time of 6.9s (hand timed) and came back later in the day to take the 100m in 10.6s (hand timed). Making himself the favourite for the NCAA 100m crown next month.

20 year old Archand Bagsit of Letran College the National Champion over 400m, also secured a comfortable double with 21.9s in the 200m and 49.2s in the 400m.

While in the womens sprints Hanelyn Loquinto of Far Eastern University secured three wins in the 60m (7.8s), 100m (12.3s) and 200m (25.9s) team mate Cherylyn Lopez aka. Chi Chi. finished runner up in all three events.

There were two very complete fields in Mens Decathlon and Heptathlon over a great 2 days of competition.
