NCAA and UAAP New Recruits

Have strengthened their mens team further by adding National Junior Hurdle Record Holder Patrick Unso and NCAA HS Record Holder in the 100m Jasper Tanhueco. DLSU will be a force to be reckoned with in 2011!

Have acquired sprinter Michael Bayani of Ilocos.  Bayani placed second to Cebu’s Daniel Noval at the Palarong Pambansa in Tarlac earlier this year.

After losing quite a few athletes of the team to graduation. Ateneo has recruited JB Capinpin from its High school system. Capinpin won the bronze in the 100m at the Palaro.

CSB (College of Saint Benilde) has strengthened their lineup acquiring two time palaro champion Daniel Noval of Cebu.  Noval became a very valuable recruit for schools in Manila when he tied both the Palaro 100 and 200 records in Tarlac earlier this year. CSB have signed up Noval on a 6000 peso a month allowance. Noval turned down UAAP school Ateneo who could only offer him 2000 pesos a month. He will further strengthen an ace 4×100 relay team that holds the NCAA record and which includes Isidro Del Prado Jr..

Meanwhile JRU coach Elma Muros, has acquired Bicol’s Palaro Standout Mark Harry Diones whose leap of 14.44m was a New Palaro Record. He joins older brother Melbert the reigning Triple Jump champion of the NCAA.

George Posadas has also recruited Mark Sucapanio who, like Elma, comes from Romblon were he trains alongside 3 other athletes being eyed by Manila Schools.

Sucapanio allegedly timed 48.8 seconds in the Palarong Pambansa (a typo perhaps because he was actually 2nd to Jan Mark Mucho 50.6 to 50.8 see results below)

Moriel know any of the other results good to see Marikina is being used for time trials. I used to train there when i was staying in Rizal Province back in 2003, it was so crowded with joggers then.

Ill update my lists with that time, any other results of note at the time trials.

  2. Was at Marikina Oval yesterday. FEU, UE and UST were holding their time trials. Saluan timed 2:07.9 in the 800m with an opening lap of 59s. Reigning mens 800m/1500m champ Wenlie Maulas time 4:02 in the 1500m. These are great times considering UAAP is still 4 months away.

Saluan will represent the country in the SEA Juniors. I think she will break the RP record by then.
