3k Musketeers

Last December 23, I posted an article regarding the 3k results of the Philstar Celebrity Run (Philstar 3k article) held last December 20 at the Fort.  I was beaming with excitement as I wrote that post because of the fast times the top 3 finishers registered in that particular event.

The top 3 runners with their official times were:

1st: Wenly Maulas (UE) – 8:41

2nd: Michael Bacong (San Sebastian) – 8:49

3rd: Ferdinand Corpuz (San Sebastian) – 8:52

Considering that the Philippine Record for the 3,000m (track oval) is 8:17, the times aforementioned above were really fast.  And as I promised in that article, I will be monitoring their progress.

So how did these young lads fared during their wars in the UAAP and NCAA athletics championships?

Wenlie Maulas (UE):

UAAP: 10,000m (bronze) 34:16.04

UAAP: 800m (gold) 1:55.09

UAAP: 5,000m (4th) 16:02.15

UAAP: 10,000m (gold) 4:03.56

CHED Games: 1,500m (gold) 4:06.0

Michael Bacong (San Sebastian):

NCAA Seniors: 800m (8th): 1:59.6

NCAA Seniors : 3,000m steeplechase (5th) 9:59.17

NCAA Seniors : 1,500m (4th) 4:03.63

NCAA Seniors : 5,000m (bronze) 16:09.19

Ferdinand Corpuz (San Sebastian):

NCAA Juniors : 800m (gold) 2:02.82

NCAA Juniors : 3,000m (gold) 9:35.57 (new NCAA record)

NCAA Juniors : 1,500m (gold) 4:15.55 (New NCAA record)

NCAA Juniors : 2,000m steeplechase (gold) 6:44.39

NCAA Juniors : 4x400m (gold) 3:35.04

Indeed, these three lads have the potential to be big in the running circuit for the years to come.

Keep it up guys!
